This client was planning a major process upgrade at its existing facility. The new project required the demolition and/or relocation of some of the existing steam plant assets.
In the process of planning for this relocation, our client was interested in investigating the value of retaining some of its existing boilers or providing the required heat and hot water by other means.
Temec was commissioned to conduct a steam usage audit and develop a pre-feasibility study of alternative methods of providing heat to the facility.
This facility includes many building types and many types of heating systems. After conducting an inventory of current and future heat demands, Temec developed budget level scopes and capital cost estimates for six types of conversion project to replace steam heat by natural gas generated heat. Temec also determined the annual savings associated with each option including fuel, power and O&M cost estimates. Simple economic return on investment predictions were provided.
As a result of Temec’s investigations, our client was able to make an informed decision on the best course of action for the future use of its steam generation assets. |
