This client experienced a failure of a dry type 13.8kV – 600V transformer which led to a plant outage during a period of extreme winter conditions. After the failed transformer was replaced and the plant was starting up, a hot water tank imploded.
Temec was retained to assemble the business interruption and property damage loss costs, and to assist with the client's position that the two events were linked so that only a single deductible would be applied to the claimed amount.
Temec used forensic investigations into plant operating records and failure modes to determine the root cause of the second failure, and was then able to prove that the second failure may well have been a direct consequence of the initial transformer failure.
As a result of these investigations, and a number of technical reports and presentations, the deductible issue was settled to the satisfaction of our client. |
